Activities celebrating the joyous Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr fall on the same weekend as the somber anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Islamic centers have rescheduled or a scaling back traditional Eid carnivals rather than hold them on Saturday. Kamal Abu-Shamsieh, director of the Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno, Calif., talks to Linda Wertheimer on 9/11.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
ICCF Director Kamal Abu-Shamsieh was invited to appear on the nationally syndicated, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to discuss the census in 2010. In addition to Mr Abu-Shamsieh, the episode featured the director of the US Census, national chairman of The Libertarian Party, a representative of The Tea Party and an advocate of undocumented immigrants.
CNN International Edition
ICCF director appeared on CNN International Edition to discuss the impact on 9/11 on the Muslim community. In 2010,
the plans to establish Park 51 in New York which led to vandalism of various Islamic Centers including one in Madera.
