Focus on Family:
Islamic Cultural Center of Fresno empowers Muslim
families through spiritual events and has developed
various programs to encourage healthy relationships.
Domestic Violence Prevention
The Islamic Center is
in the process of adopting a domestic violence policy
that will adopt various recommendations, projects and
events aim at preventing domestic violence and
encouraging healthy relationships.
The Center is already providing the following services:
* Counseling to families and victims of domestic
violence
* Collaborative with the Marjaree Mason Center
* Partnership with state agencies and law enforcement
units
* 24 hour hotline provided through Minority Women
Resource Center
Breast Cancer Prevention:
The Islamic Cultural
Center of Fresno received a generous grant from the local affiliate of The Susan
G. Komen For the Cure and established the breast cancer prevention program.
Muslims Care:
Over 20 Muslim women and men participated in
the annual Susan G. Komen Run for the Cure at CSU Fresno.
The Center's team: Muslims Care reached out to Muslims from diverse ethnic and
age backgrounds to share information about breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Prevention Classes
The Center is currently seeking women to
register to the multi-lingual breast cancer classes. The classes are available
in English, Arabic, Farsi and Urdu and are taught by Muslim female physicians
and health professionals. To register, contact Dr.

Mental Health:
In collaboration with Fresno County Health
Department and Interfaith Social Justice Collaborative, the Islamic Center is
preparing to organize focus groups to discuss mental health in Muslim families. |
